Set up as new or restore from backup (itunes or icloud). if you just purchased the ipad, you will be setting it up as new. if you just purchased the ipad, you will be setting it up as new. later, if you run into problems that require you to fully restore the ipad, you will have the choice of using itunes to restore your backup or using apple's. By default the ipad will propose a six-digit passcode when setting it up as a new device (if you set it up from a backup and used to have a four-digit code, it'll happily let you stick with that).. At this point, you can choose to set up your ipad as a completely new device or, if you've had a previous ipad, iphone, or ipod touch, you can install a backup of that device's settings and content on the ipad..

Edit article how to set up a new ipad. two parts: powering on and getting oriented setting up apple id, icloud, and finishing up community q&a when you purchase a new ipad, you’ll be required to walk through the setup assistant prior to using the device.. Choose set up as new ipad, unless you’re restoring. photo: rob lefebvre/cult of mac if you backed up your old ipad to icloud or itunes, choose one of those restore options on the apps & data screen.. Set up as new ipad/iphone: this is where you would go to sign up for an apple id for the first time, or if you want, just skip the whole sign-in process (you can always sign up later)..
